Is Lyric Sharing Illegal, Too? Ares says NO

I understand that it’s illegal to share copyrighted music files, but since when is lyric sharing illegal, too? There have been a lot of lyrics websites which have been forced to remove lyrics that were posted without the publisher’s permission. Both sites and search engines warned no more lyrics could be displayed there without permission or compensation on the part of the publisher. Personally, I don’t see what the big deal is about posting lyrics. Most people look up lyrics for personal knowledge, so they can sing along with the song. Looking up lyrics is not like recording a song, just as whispering in the movie theater, “What was that line?” is not like making a pirate copy of the film with a camcorder.
