$1,375,000 settlement for online Acai unscrupulous marketing scandal

Yes, you’ve read it right and there’s no need to put on your glasses to read this piece of astonishing news again. The Acai health supplement and as a whole, a big online marketer Central Coast Nutraceuticals, Inc, better known as CCN, is supposed to pay-off over 1.37 million dollars as a settlement for the enormous complaints filed by the consumers against their wicked online marketing style.

In case you’re wondering what the heck really made Attorney General Terry Goddard to announce such a hefty settlement against CCN, it was the sole result of company’s online Acai health supplement promotion tactics which involved unfair means to grab extra orders from customers in a deceptive manner.

Basically CCN offered free samples of Acai health supplements to the customers, and in order to claim for a free sample the customers were requested to give out details of their credit cards and no charges were applicable for the promotional products. However, along with the Acai promos, CCN’s order form had few other expensive products pre-selected and the customers who did not really notice them received bill for the same and had to pay out of their own pockets. Those who haven’t yet claimed for their money can do so until 17th August, 2009.
